Job Description 

FYR Diagnostics is seeking a Bioinformatician that will work closely with research scientists and software engineers to offer insight into experiments, analyze and interpret data, and create bioinformatic pipelines. The Bioinformatician will be asked to perform supervised and self-directed exploration to analyze datasets such as quantitative omics or synthetic biology experiments in a rigorous research environment. They will need to possess a solid foundation of molecular/cellular biology and computational biology. They will also be responsible for applying state of the art computing (cloud and local) machine learning models and derive quantitative insights to support biomarker discovery projects.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Create clear and scientifically rigorous visualizations, communications, and presentations of results
  • Maintain and organize computational infrastructure and resources
  • Lead bioinformatics efforts and work with cross-functional teams to analyze and interpret whole-genome sequencing, targeted genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and other related omic technologies
  • Integrate, mine and analyze complex biological data and translate them into testable biomarkers using advanced analytical tools
  • Develop pipelines to integrate relevant datasets to aid in the analysis and interpretation of multi-omic data sets

Desired Qualifications 

  • Fluency in multiple coding languages (Python, R, bash, Nextflow, and/or SQL), as well as experience with advanced local and cloud computing (e.g. AWS)
  • Expertise in statistical project design, descriptive analysis, and modeling of data
  • Experience with manipulation, interpretation, and innovative analysis of multi-omic biological datasets, including their application to biomarker discovery and clinical diagnostics. In particular, WGS, RNA seq, and proteomics
  • Familiarity with analysis for clinical diagnostics
  • Knowledge of and experience with common bioinformatics databases, resources and tools
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Creative, organized, motivated team player

Educational Requirements

  • Masters or Ph.D. in computational biology, genetics, computer science, statistics, math, molecular biology, or related field. Or equivalent practical experience.

Travel Requirements

  • If remote, regular on-site visits (flexible interval)
